In contemporary discourse Dharma is often reduced to religious identity. Kabeer Ji Maharaj's understanding is fundamentally different. Dharma is not primarily an identity — it is a responsibility. It is the principle of right action: what this situation, this role, this relationship requires of me.

In this reading, Dharma is not owned by any group or tradition. It is the universal principle by which right action, right leadership and right civilization are possible — accessible to all, demanded of all who lead.
